ABOUT HL TUTORING SERVICES
MISSION AND HISTORY
Qualifications
I have been teaching as a fully qualified teacher since 1998. I possess (BA) Hons degree in History, a Primary PGCE, a TEFL certificate and a Trinity CertTESOL. Teaching is my passion; whether the students are young children or adults. I enjoy teaching students of all ages.

Teaching experience
I have a broad and varied range of teaching experience. I have successfully taught students of all ages and backgrounds ranging from those with special educational needs , ADHD, autism, through to students requiring an extra challenge to the work given to them at school, those who are 'gifted and talented' or adult students who have English as a second language.
I have always been keen to develop a student's confidence so that they can realise their own potential. I believe that an individual can really benefit from the tailor-made lessons that I offer. After all every student is different and has individual needs. The first session consists of a brief discussion of the student’s needs/concerns and then an initial assessment is conducted. The lessons that follow are carefully planned in order to address any weak areas or key areas of the curriculum that need development/ extending. Examination practice and techniques are also integrated into sessions if required.
I have spent about 8 years teaching in KS2 and about 6 years in KS1 and Foundation Stage. I have successfully taught phonics and have a thorough understanding of how to develop early basic skills (early reading, writing and maths). In addition to this, I have prepared students for tests and exams both as a class teacher and as a tutor.
During my role as music co-ordinator, I shared my interest in music with the school community. I taught music across both key stages, taught whole class violin lessons as well as running a school choir. The children had many opportunities to perform. I have also shared my expertise with others professionally.
I am currently working as a supply teacher in schools which I thoroughly enjoy. I teach children from nursery/foundation stage all the way up to Year 6. I teach all the National Curriculum subjects covered in primary school. I am upbeat, flexible and enjoy the variety it offers. Consequently, I can keep abreast of current educational changes. Supply teaching also leaves me with time during the evenings to tutor.
It has given me the flexibility to teach English in English Language schools and colleges across the world. I have been lucky enough to have taught English to children and teenagers in China, France and Italy. I have also taught English to adults in Australia and at home here in Yorkshire too. In addition to this, I have provided language coaching within the corporate sector, assisting non-native speakers within British companies.
I am enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible and friendly. I'm looking forward to working with you so do please get in touch!
Build that confidence!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
